Who gets to define who you are?
In a culture that tells us to create our own identity—or prove ourselves by what we’ve done—Paul reminds us of a deeper truth: God defines us, not by our works (good or bad), but by His mercy in Jesus Christ.
In this final sermon of our Titus series, we hear how the goodness and loving kindness of God appeared in Christ, saving us “not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to His own mercy,” giving us new life through the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit. Because our identity is secured by what Jesus has done, we’re freed to devote ourselves to good works—not to earn salvation, but to bear credible witness to Christ.
