Living Godly Lives in the Present Age

Book: Titus

Scripture: Titus 2:11–3:2

Most of us don’t mind working hard—we just hate losing. Whether it’s games, grades, politics, reputation, comfort, or control, the fear underneath is often the same: What happens to me if I don’t win?

In this sermon, Paul’s words to Titus call us to something radically different: a life of godly self-control, gentleness, and readiness for good works—grounded not in the pressure of the present age, but in the sure hope of Christ.

This message is anchored in two great “appearings” of Jesus: His grace has already appeared in His incarnation, cross, and resurrection, and His glory will appear when He returns. Between those two, we live in the present age—able to “lose” for the sake of others because Christ has already won for us. Jesus Christ redeemed us from all lawlessness, purified us as His own people, and He will appear again in glory—so we can be zealous for good works with real hope.
